Some common questions we get are....
Q: How can I serve as a parent without getting in the way of my teen's independence?
A: We understand that teens need time with and without their parents. However, without parents of teens, our ministry would not exist. Many parents find creative ways to serve near their student without invading their space. Talk to us about how we can best accomodate your needs!
Q: I don't feel very qualified...
A: None of us are! Teens today are innundated with the media and youth culture. The main thing they need from us is to see us taking our faith seriously and caring for them. We need Christian adults who are willing to admit they don't know it all but want to learn alongside teens.
Q: What are you looking for?
A: There are so many ways that adults can help! From small things behind the scenes to big opportunities in front of students, there are so many creative ways to reach teens. We need leaders who aren't afraid to ask questions. We need leaders who do daily quiet times. We need leaders who are consistent. Consistency is huge for this generation because so many of them come from broken homes. Less than half live with both biological parents. We need leaders who can be a friend and a buddy without losing their respect as an adult mentor.
Q: How do I get started?
A: Working with students requires a good match of spiritual gift set and job...as well as an understanding of students developmentally. We do a face-to-face interview with all of our potential leaders.
